The CJ5 was introduced to the CJ series in 1955. The design of this Jeep was influenced by the M38A1 Korean War Jeep, and featured a rounded fender, large windshield frame, extra long riding springs, and a body and hood made of heavy gauge sheet metal. A variety of modifications were made over the next few decades, until production was closed in 1983. Today, many enthusiasts are interested in Jeep CJ5 for repairs, restorations, and modifications.
